Early Life
Park Hyeon-joo was born on October 17, 1958, in Gwangju, South Korea. He graduated from Gwangju Jeil High School and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Korea University in 1983. His early interest in finance and the capital market led him to pursue a career in the industry.
Rise to Success
Park began his career in 1986 at Dongyang Securities. He later became a branch manager at Dongwon Securities, quickly rising through the ranks. In 1997, he co-founded Mirae Asset Investment Advisory and Mirae Asset Global Investments. In December 1998, Park launched South Korea's first mutual fund, which was a significant success. In 2001, he became the chairman of Mirae Asset Group. The company expanded internationally, beginning in 2004.
