Early Life
Onkar Kanwar was born in Sialkot, British India (now in Pakistan) in March 1942. His family moved to India during the partition. Kanwar earned a degree in science and administration from the University of California. He is the eldest son of Raunaq Singh, who co-founded Apollo Tyres in 1972.
Rise to Success
Kanwar joined the family business in 1964, later taking control of Apollo Tyres in 2002 after a dispute with his father. His vision focused on tire manufacturing and global expansion, transforming the company into a major international player. Under his leadership, Apollo Tyres has grown significantly. Kanwar has been instrumental in growing Apollo Tyres into a major player in the global tire market, with operations spanning over 100 countries and multiple manufacturing facilities.

Kanwar has emphasized strategic investments in research and development and expanding the company's global footprint.
