Niels Peter Louis-Hansen was born on October 25, 1947, in Humlebæk, Denmark. He is the son of Aage Louis-Hansen and Johanne Louis-Hansen, who co-founded Coloplast in 1957. His father developed innovative ostomy-care solutions. After his father's death in 1966, Niels Peter became involved in the family business. He later earned a degree in business economics.
Rise to Success
Louis-Hansen's career is closely tied to Coloplast. He joined the board in the 1970s and eventually became deputy chairman. This role allowed him to oversee the company's transition into a multinational public corporation. Under his leadership, Coloplast has expanded from ostomy care to continence, wound, and skin care, establishing itself as a market leader in the global medical devices sector.
