Early Life
Nick A. Caporella was born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, in 1935. His father worked as a coal miner. At age 11, Caporella began working odd jobs. Later, when his father took a construction job in Florida, the family relocated to West Palm Beach.
Rise to Success
Caporella started his career in the construction industry. He later became the CEO of Burnup & Sims, a telecommunications firm, before founding National Beverage Corp. in 1985. He acquired Shasta Beverages in 1985 and Faygo in 1987, building a diverse beverage portfolio. National Beverage went public in 1991.

Caporella's strategy focused on acquiring established beverage brands and developing a wide range of flavored drinks. His leadership style emphasizes innovation and responding to consumer trends. A key decision was acquiring LaCroix, which significantly boosted National Beverage's market position.
