Early Life and Education
Naresh Trehan was born on August 12, 1945, in Batala, Punjab, British India. His early education was at Modern School in Delhi and Hindu College. He graduated from King George's Medical College, Lucknow, in 1968 with an MBBS degree. He furthered his medical training at New York University Medical Center, where he honed his skills in cardiothoracic surgery from 1971 to 1988.
Rise to Success
Returning to India in 1988, Dr. Trehan co-founded the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre in Delhi, serving as its executive director and chief cardiovascular surgeon for two decades. In 2009, he established Medanta - The Medicity in Gurugram, a multi-specialty hospital, which has become a leading healthcare hub focused on innovation and patient-centric treatment. His contributions to the field of medicine have earned him numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri (1991) and the Padma Bhushan (2001). He has been the personal surgeon to the President of India since 1991.

Dr. Trehan's key strategies include establishing large-scale hospitals with comprehensive medical care and a focus on cutting-edge technology. Medanta – The Medicity has over 1,250 beds and 45 operating theaters. He has also emphasized the integration of advanced technologies, such as robotic systems for minimally invasive surgeries. Moreover, his focus on patient-centric care and creating a hub for various specialties has been instrumental in Medanta's success. Global Health Limited, the parent company of Medanta, was listed on the Indian bourses in 2022.
