Murat Vargi was born in Turkey in 1947. He received his education at TED Ankara College and later studied Economics and Foreign Trade at Ankara University. He furthered his education with a Trade Development program at the Helsinki School of Economics and a Foreign Trade program at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.

Vargi's career began in 1972 as an export representative at Koç Holding. In 1976, he co-founded Penta Foreign Trade Company. His most significant achievement came in 1993 when he co-founded Turkcell, which revolutionized the telecommunications sector in Turkey. That same year, he established MV Holding, which has interests in various sectors including tourism, energy, and technology.
