Born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 1962, Mohammad Abunayyan was raised in a family that instilled values of hard work and responsibility. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He is also known for his continuous pursuit of knowledge, attending international programs in modern management, governance, and investment.
Rise to Success
Abunayyan began his career in the family business, Abunayyan Holding, in 1979. Recognizing the potential in the power and water sectors, he founded ACWA Power in 2004. Under his leadership, ACWA Power has grown into a global leader in renewable energy and water desalination, with projects in multiple countries. In October 2021, ACWA Power went public on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul). He also chairs Vision Invest, a Saudi holding company, and holds stakes in other publicly traded and privately held companies.
