Mofatraj Munot was born in a small village in Maharashtra, India, in 1944. He completed his education in Mumbai, earning a degree in civil engineering from the University of Mumbai.

Munot's company saw early success with construction contracts in the Middle East during the 1970s, including building the palace of the ruler of Sharjah.
