Early Life
Michael Edward Novogratz was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on November 26, 1964. He is the third of seven children. His father was a West Point graduate and football player. Novogratz attended Fort Hunt High School, where he was a state wrestling runner-up. He later became wrestling team captain at Princeton University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics in 1987.

Novogratz began his career at Goldman Sachs in 1989, starting as a bond salesman. During his 11 years at Goldman Sachs, he worked in various roles and locations, including Tokyo and Hong Kong, eventually becoming a partner. In 2002, Novogratz joined Fortress Investment Group, managing a macro-strategy hedge fund. He later founded Galaxy Digital in 2018, a company focused on investments in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. Galaxy Digital has grown into a significant player in the digital asset space, offering services such as trading, asset management, and investment banking.
