Early Life
Mehmet Ali Aydınlar was born on July 24, 1956, in Arapgir, Malatya Province, Turkey. There is no further information available about his early years and childhood.
Rise to Success
Aydınlar began his career as a financial advisor in 1981. In 1993, he joined Acıbadem Hospital. Under his leadership, Acıbadem Hospital expanded to become the Acıbadem Healthcare Group in 2000. The group was listed on the Turkish stock market as the only Turkish medical provider. Aydınlar's leadership transformed Acıbadem into a leading healthcare provider in Turkey. He was also a minority shareholder and CEO of Acıbadem Healthcare Group, Turkey's leading hospital chain.
Key Business Strategies
Aydınlar's success is attributed to strategic partnerships and sales of his shares in the company. He took Acıbadem public in 2000 and then sold a portion of his shares in 2007 to Abraaj Capital. The company was later delisted in 2012 after a deal with Malaysia's IHH Healthcare Berhad. He still owns 10% of Acıbadem and serves as chairman of its board of directors. He exchanged Acibadem shares for cash and stock in IHH. As a result, the majority of his wealth comes from his shares in IHH.
Philanthropy
Aydınlar is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Acıbadem University, which focuses on advancing healthcare through education and research.
