Early Life and Education
Matthias Daniel Reinhart was born in August 1960. He studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), graduating in 1986 with a lic. oec. HSG degree. Following his education, Reinhart worked at McKinsey & Company in Zurich and Chicago for five years, gaining valuable experience in business consulting.
Rise to Success
In 1993, Reinhart co-founded VZ VersicherungsZentrum AG (later VZ VermögensZentrum AG) with Max Bolanz. The company was established as an independent, fee-only financial advisor. As CEO, Reinhart oversaw VZ's expansion from insurance intermediation to holistic financial advice, asset management, and banking services. In March 2007, the holding company, VZ Holding Ltd., was listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange, which further propelled its growth. Reinhart served as CEO until the end of 2022.
Key Business Strategies
VZ Holding's key proposition has been to bring transparency to the financial market, allowing customers to easily compare financial products. The company focuses on advisory and portfolio-management services for a fee, rather than brokering financial products. Reinhart's leadership has been instrumental in the company's growth, including its expansion into various financial services and its listing on the SIX Swiss Exchange.
Philanthropy
Reinhart is involved in philanthropic activities. He sits on the founding board of the Swiss Epilepsy Foundation and is a member of the advisory board of NZZ (Neue Zuercher Zeitung).
