Early Life
Mark M. Davis was born on May 18, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York, to Al and Carol Davis. He is a graduate of California State University, Chico. Prior to inheriting co-ownership of the team, Davis was involved in the retail part of the Raiders' business where he helped develop their Raider Image stores. He also spent time in the Raiders equipment department.
Rise to Success
After the death of his father, Al Davis, in 2011, Mark and his mother, Carol, inherited ownership of the Raiders. Mark took over as the operating head of the franchise. Davis controls the Raiders' day-to-day operations and represents the Raiders at owners' meetings. He has focused on business matters while leaving on-field matters to the football operations staff.
Key Business Strategies
One of Davis's most significant moves was relocating the Raiders to Las Vegas in 2020. This involved constructing the Allegiant Stadium, a $1.9 billion project. Under Davis's leadership, the Raiders' valuation has increased significantly. He has also diversified the team's ownership by selling stakes to new investors, including Egon Durban and Michael Meldman. He also owns the Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA.
Philanthropy
Mark Davis is committed to philanthropy and community service, particularly in Las Vegas and Oakland. He has supported local schools, provided resources for underserved communities, and invested in youth sports programs. He is also involved in the Keep Memory Alive organization.
