She holds a medical degree from Cambridge University and completed post-graduate clinical medical studies at University College London. She worked as a doctor within the National Health Service in the UK before joining the family business in 2008.

Maria joined the family business in 2008, initially serving as the group's vice president. After her father's passing in 2021, she took over as CEO of the Angelicoussis Group. Under her leadership, the Group has continued to flourish, operating a diversified fleet including tankers, dry bulk carriers, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers. Her strategic focus has been on modernization and sustainability.
