Maggie Hardy was born on December 7, 1965, in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. She is the fifth of five children. Her father, Joseph A. Hardy III, founded 84 Lumber Company in 1956.
Rise to Success
Maggie Hardy joined the family business in 1987 and played a key role in developing Nemacolin Woodlands into a luxurious resort. In 1992, at age 26, she became the president and owner of 84 Lumber. Under her leadership, 84 Lumber reached $1 billion in sales in 1993 and $4 billion in 2020. The company has more than 320 facilities across 34 states.
