Luis Enrique Yarur Rey was born in Santiago, Chile, on December 18, 1950. He earned a law degree from the University of Navarra in Spain. He later pursued a Master of Business Administration from IESE Business School, also in Spain.
Rise to Success
Yarur Rey's career is closely tied to the Banco de Crédito e Inversiones (BCI), founded by his great-uncle Juan Yarur Lolas in 1937. He joined the bank's Board of Directors in 1991 and served as CEO for 11 years. He is currently the Chairman of BCI. In 2015, under his leadership, BCI acquired the Miami-based City National Bank of Florida, marking the first time a Chilean bank purchased a U.S. financial institution.
