Early Life
Luigi Cremonini was born in 1939 in Savignano sul Panaro, near Modena, Italy, to a farming family. He studied farming in Bologna, laying the foundation for his future in the food industry.
Rise to Success
Cremonini's entrepreneurial journey began in 1963 when he and his brother Giuseppe opened a butcher shop. This small venture marked the start of the pan-European Cremonini Group. In 1966, he founded Inalca, which specialized in butchering, marking a key step in expanding his business. Cremonini then diversified into cured meats, distribution, and catering. Key milestones include the establishment of Marr, Italy's largest food-service distributor, and the founding of the Roadhouse Grill restaurant chain.
Key Business Strategies
Cremonini’s business strategy centered on vertical integration, expanding from cattle breeding and slaughtering to processing and distribution. He expanded internationally, and the Cremonini Group became a major supplier to McDonald's and other food service providers. Cremonini also expanded his operations to include catering services on trains and in railway stations across Europe.
Philanthropy
Luigi Cremonini has financially supported the archaeological excavations and museum setup of the "Cremonini Space at the Trevi," completed in 2009, which concerned the Vicus Caprarius area near the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
