Early Life
Lucy Stitzer is a member of the Cargill-MacMillan family. She is the great-great-granddaughter of W.W. Cargill, who founded Cargill in 1865. Stitzer's early life and education laid the foundation for her future in business and philanthropy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Hollins University.
Rise to Success
Stitzer began her career in banking, working at Citibank, Sandler O'Neill, and AmeriBank. Her significant role in the family business emerged when she became the chair of Waycrosse, Inc., the family office for the Cargill and MacMillan families, since 2011. She served on Cargill Inc.'s Board of Directors for 18 years, contributing to the company's future strategy and supporting efforts to advance the company's diversity and opportunities for women. In 1992, she was one of two family members of the next generation to serve on the Cargill board, and with her cousin, were the first women to serve.
Key Business Strategies
Stitzer's primary focus is ensuring a successful future for Cargill and the family through her role at Waycrosse, Inc. Since 1998, she worked on the first set of three strategies setting the stage for Cargill's future, and served on the Finance, Human Resources, and Governance Committees. In 2016, Stitzer and three other women began the blog "Dirt to Dinner" to educate consumers about the agricultural supply chain, food ingredients, and diet trends.
Philanthropy
Stitzer has been involved in initiatives to educate consumers about the food supply chain. She is also dedicated to helping the Cargill family with their financial aspects through Waycrosse.
