Liu Jingkang was born in 1991 in Meizhou, Guangdong, China. He grew up in Zhongshan and demonstrated a strong interest in technology from a young age. In 2010, Liu was admitted to Nanjing University, where he studied software engineering and graduated in 2014. During his time at Nanjing University, Liu developed a live-streaming platform.
