Li Shuirong was born in 1956 in a small village in Zhejiang province, China. His early life was marked by the challenges of growing up in a rural area. Li comes from a humble family background; his parents were farmers, and he had several siblings. Despite limited resources, Li showed a strong determination to succeed from a young age.
Rise to Success
Li Shuirong's career began in 1989 when he founded Yinong Network Chemical Fiber Factory, specializing in producing polyester fiber cloth. Recognizing opportunities in the evolving polyester industry, he founded Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group, a major petrochemical producer. Under his leadership, Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group became a significant player in the petrochemical industry.
Key Business Strategies
Li Shuirong's success is rooted in strategic industry positioning and diversification. He identified market opportunities and adapted his business focus. A significant milestone was achieved in 2020 when Zhejiang Rongsheng became the first private oil refiner in China to receive government approval to export refined oil products. In 2023, Rongsheng Petrochemical entered a strategic partnership with Saudi Aramco, with the energy and chemicals giant acquiring a 10% stake for $3.4 billion. In April 2024, the two companies further agreed to each acquire a 50% stake in the other's subsidiary.
