Early Life
Lee Dong-chae was born on December 10, 1959, in Pohang, South Korea. He is the second of eight children. After graduating from Daegu Commercial High School, he went on to earn a degree in business administration from Yeungnam University.
Rise to Success
Lee's professional journey began at Korea Housing Bank. He later worked at Samsung Electronics before becoming a certified public accountant. In 1998, he founded Korea Zeorum, which was later renamed EcoPro. In 2004, Lee ventured into the secondary battery materials business, a move that became the cornerstone of the EcoPro Group. Under his leadership, the company grew to become a leading firm in the KOSDAQ market. EcoPro BM, a unit of EcoPro, is South Korea's largest producer of cathodes for EV batteries by capacity.
