Early Life
Lamar Hunt Jr. was born in Dallas, Texas, on October 20, 1956. He is the son of Lamar Hunt, founder of the Kansas City Chiefs and coiner of the term "Super Bowl," and grandson of oil tycoon H.L. Hunt. Growing up in Dallas, he attended St. Mark's School of Texas. Hunt showed an early interest in music, playing the flute and later attending the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Career and Rise to Success
After graduating, Hunt played flute with the Kansas City Symphony for nine seasons. He then pursued a career as a Licensed Professional Counselor, working with at-risk teens and homeless individuals. His business ventures include the Loretto Companies, which encompasses Loretto Properties, Loretto Sports Ventures (owner of the Kansas City Mavericks hockey team), and the Loretto Foundation. Through these companies, Hunt has been able to continue his family's legacy in sports, while also giving back to his community.

The Hunt family also owns a minority stake in the NBA's Chicago Bulls. Clark Hunt, Lamar Jr.'s brother, serves as chairman and CEO of the Chiefs.
