Early Life
Kwee Liong Phing was born in Bandung, Indonesia, and is a citizen of Singapore. His father, Henry Kwee Hian Liong, a textile trader and real estate developer, founded Kwee Inc. Pte Ltd in 1959 and the Pontiac Land Group in 1961, after migrating to Singapore from Fujian Province, China.
Rise to Success
Kwee and his three brothers inherited the business after their father's passing in 1988, and have continued to expand the real estate empire. Pontiac Land Group has developed numerous iconic properties, including the Millenia Singapore complex, the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, and the Conrad Centennial Singapore. Kwee, along with his brothers, also own luxury hotels like the Regent Singapore and the Capella Singapore. They have expanded their portfolio internationally, with projects in New York, Sydney, and the Maldives.
Key Business Strategies
Pontiac Land Group focuses on luxury property development, emphasizing quality, innovative design, and sustainable practices. Strategic locations and exclusive art enrich the experiences of living spaces. The group’s strategy also involves partnerships with award-winning architects and designers. In 2017, the group acquired the Capella Hotel Group. In 2024, a generational shift occurred, with the founding brothers ceding board positions to their children.
