Karl Knauf, along with his brother Alfons, founded Knauf Gips KG in 1932. They secured the rights to mine gypsum deposits in Schengen, Germany. The initial gypsum factory, established in Perl (Moselle), Germany, became the nucleus of production for the global Knauf Group.
