Early Life
Karel Komarek was born on March 15, 1969, in Hodonín, Czech Republic. He graduated in engineering and briefly worked at Sigma Hodonín. His entrepreneurial journey started in 1992 with a loan from his father, which he used to found M.O.S. Hodonín, a wholesale company for industrial valves.
Rise to Success
Komarek's career took a significant turn in 1995 when he established KKCG, an investment company with international operations. He strategically entered the energy sector, acquiring the energy production company Moravské naftové doly (MND Group), now a part of KKCG. A major milestone was the 2012 acquisition of Sazka, the largest Czech lottery company, which later rebranded as Allwyn. Komarek's KKCG empire expanded to include energy, tourism, property, technology, and biomedicine. Allwyn has become a leading lottery operator across Europe, and in 2022, Allwyn was awarded the license to operate the UK National Lottery.
