Early Life
Juan Abello Gallo was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1941. His father was a pharmacist, and Juan Abello followed in his footsteps, earning a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1963 and a doctorate in pharmacy in 1978.
Rise to Success
Abello's career began in the pharmaceutical industry. In 1966, he became the Managing Director of Antibióticos, S.A., the family pharmaceutical company. He later led the sale of the company and other family pharma assets to Montedison in 1986. In 1990, he founded Torreal, a global investment firm, which has made significant investments in various industries. Torreal's investments include a stake in Investindustrial, which led to Abello gaining control of 37.5% of Aston Martin in 2013. In 2020, Juan's son, Miguel Abelló, was appointed as the executive president of Torreal, while Juan assumed the role of honorary president.
