Jose Roberto Marinho was born on December 26, 1955, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is the son of Roberto Marinho, the founder of Grupo Globo. He studied History at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and Geography at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
Rise to Success
Marinho began his career at the O Globo newspaper in 1972. He worked in various positions before becoming the vice-president of Grupo Globo. After his father's death in 2003, he inherited control of Grupo Globo with his brothers. Under his leadership, Grupo Globo has expanded its reach, launched new channels, and acquired new media properties.
