Early Life and Education
Jorge Neval Moll Filho was born in Rio de Janeiro on January 23, 1946. He graduated in Medicine from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). His early career focused on cardiology, setting the stage for his future endeavors in the healthcare sector.
Rise to Success
Moll's entrepreneurial journey began in 1977 when he started acquiring clinics and laboratories in Rio de Janeiro. This marked the inception of the Cardiolab diagnostic clinic group. In 1994, he transformed the former Copa D'Or hotel in Copacabana into a private hospital. He expanded his network by opening the Barra D'Or hospital in 1998, and later, through the acquisition of the São Luiz healthcare group in 2015. Through strategic acquisitions and innovative concepts, such as the "all exams in one place" model, he built Rede D'Or into a leading healthcare provider in Brazil. Moll's leadership has been instrumental in the company's growth, with the group now operating across multiple Brazilian states.
Key Business Strategies
Moll's business acumen is evident in his strategic acquisitions and innovative approaches to healthcare delivery. The acquisition of São Luiz in 2015 significantly expanded his network, while investments in technology and patient-focused care have set Rede D'Or apart. The company's IPO in 2020 further fueled expansion, enabling the construction of new hospitals and acquisition of assets.
Philanthropy
While specific amounts are difficult to ascertain, Rede D'Or, under Moll's leadership, supports the D'Or Institute (IDOR), an institute dedicated to research and education in key medical fields such as neurology, cardiology, and oncology. This reflects his commitment to advancing medical knowledge and improving healthcare outcomes. Moll has also been involved in initiatives focused on social and environmental contributions.
