Jonathan Mark Tisch was born on December 7, 1953, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, to Joan (née Hyman) and Preston Robert Tisch. His father was a co-owner of Loews Hotels and the New York Giants, immersing Jonathan in the business world from a young age. He attended Tufts University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976.
Rise to Success
Tisch joined Loews Corporation in 1980 and steadily rose through the ranks, becoming Chairman of Loews Hotels in 1989. Under his leadership, Loews Hotels expanded, establishing itself as a prominent luxury and lifestyle brand. He initiated the Loews Hotels Good Neighbor Policy, demonstrating a commitment to community engagement. He served as Chairman Emeritus of the U.S. Travel Association and Chairman of NYC & Company, contributing significantly to the tourism industry. In 2009, Tisch was named "Hotelier of the World" by HOTELS magazine.
