In 1952, she married Johnnie Bryan Hunt, and together they co-founded J.B. Hunt Transport Services in 1961. Initially, the company was a rice hull packaging operation. In 1969, the couple expanded into the trucking industry. Johnelle served as the initial business manager, responsible for finances, credit management, and collections during the early years. J.B. Hunt Transport Services grew into one of the largest trucking companies in the U.S..
