He also spent two years at Amazon.com as a Vice President and technical assistant to Jeff Bezos, where he focused on improving the company's personalization and marketing technologies. In 2001, Overdeck co-founded Two Sigma Investments with David Siegel and Mark Pickard. Two Sigma is a hedge fund that uses advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, for its trading strategies. The firm has grown to manage approximately $60 billion in assets. Overdeck and David Siegel transitioned from co-CEOs to co-chairmen of the firm in 2024, but Overdeck returned to its management committee in 2025.
Key Business Strategies
Two Sigma's core strategy involves data-driven investing, utilizing algorithms and machine learning to analyze vast amounts of data and predict securities prices. The firm has a diverse operational structure, including market-making, a Bermuda reinsurance company, and a venture capital arm.
Philanthropy
Overdeck and his wife, Laura, established the Overdeck Family Foundation in 2011. This foundation supports educational research and STEM education.
