John Christopher Armitage was born on December 20, 1959. He earned a degree in modern history from Pembroke College, Cambridge, in 1981.
Rise to Success
Armitage began his career in 1981 at Morgan Grenfell, where he eventually became a director. In 1994, he co-founded Egerton Capital with William Bollinger. Egerton Capital has generated $30.9 billion of net gains since inception in 1995, according to Edmond de Rothschild research. Armitage is the Chief Investment Officer and portfolio manager for the firm's equity long/short and equity long-only strategies.
