Early Life and Education
Joel Kenneth Greenberg was born in either 1957 or 1958. He earned a Bachelor's degree from Binghamton University where he met his future co-founder Jeff Yass. He then earned a Juris Doctor degree from Columbia Law School.
Rise to Success
In 1987, Greenberg co-founded Susquehanna International Group (SIG) and served as its chief operating officer. SIG is a major player in quantitative trading.
Key Business Strategies
SIG's success is attributed to its probabilistic, game-theory-driven approach to trading. The company has made significant investments in private companies, including a major stake in ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. Greenberg retired from his role at SIG in 2016.
Philanthropy
Greenberg, with his wife Marcy Gringlas, is involved in philanthropy through their Seed the Dream Foundation, donating over $2 million to the USC Shoah Foundation.
