Jim Davis was born in Cockeysville, Maryland. He attended college and studied biology and chemistry. However, one of his professors suggested he might be better suited to sales, a suggestion that would later shape his career path.
Rise to Success
Davis co-founded Allegis Group (formerly Aerotek) in 1983 with his cousin Steve Bisciotti. Allegis Group quickly became the largest staffing firm in the United States, with offices across multiple continents. Davis's focus on building a strong service-based company has been a key factor in his success.

A key aspect of Davis's strategy has been the expansion of Allegis Group's reach across the globe, establishing offices on four continents. Allegis Group boasts an annual revenue of more than $14 billion. Through Redwood Capital, Davis and his cousin also invest in a range of other ventures, including retirement communities and propane distribution.
