Early Life
Jeffrey Koo Jr. was born into the Koo family, one of Taiwan's wealthiest families. His grandfather, Jeffrey Koo Sr., founded Chinatrust Commercial Bank in 1966. Koo Jr. attended Soochow University in Taipei and later earned an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Rise to Success
Koo Jr. has held senior leadership roles within CTBC Financial Holding and has been involved in the governance of the family's financial enterprises. He is the fourth-generation of the Koo Family, which made its fortune in camphor, salt, sugar, and land.
Key Business Strategies
Koo Jr. owns a significant stake in CTBC Financial Holding, a major financial institution in Taiwan. He recognized the potential of Internet banking in 1997. In May 2024, Koo rejoined the board of CTBC Financial Holding after a 17-year absence and declared a holding of 8.87% of the company's issued shares, becoming the largest shareholder.
Philanthropy
Koo runs the CTBC Charity Foundation, which was established in 2004. The foundation's mission is to ensure that children from disadvantaged families can enjoy a happy and fulfilling life. Koo also launched a baseball project to sponsor baseball teams.
