Jay Robert "J.B." Pritzker was born in Palo Alto, California, on January 19, 1965. He is a member of the wealthy Pritzker family, known for their ownership of the Hyatt hotel chain and various investments. Pritzker attended Milton Academy, Duke University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1987, and Northwestern University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor in 1993.
