Early Life and Education
Hartley Rogers was born in 1959. He graduated from the Phillips Exeter Academy and obtained a bachelor's degree in geology magna cum laude from Harvard University. He furthered his education by earning an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Both of Rogers's parents were university professors, which greatly influenced his passion for academia and a commitment to education.
Rise to Success
Rogers began his career at Morgan Stanley and later joined Credit Suisse First Boston. In 2003, Rogers led an investor group, which included the investment arm of Bill Gates, to acquire approximately 40% of Hamilton Lane. Rogers was named Chairman of Hamilton Lane in 2005. In 2017, he helped Hamilton Lane close its initial public offering on the Nasdaq.

Key strategies include his focus on building Hamilton Lane into a leading private markets asset management firm, as well as significant roles in investing and client relationship activities. Furthermore, he is involved in strategic and organizational development for the firm.
Philanthropy
Hartley and his wife, Amy Falls, have committed more than $90 million to various enterprises to support access to education and opportunity for all. They support educational causes, including contributions to Harvard University. Rogers is involved with organizations such as the Institute of International Education, which manages the Fulbright Scholar program, and the Council on Foreign Relations.
