Early Life
Harley Sy, born in 1959, is the youngest of the six children of Henry Sy Sr., the founder of SM Investments Corporation, and Felicidad Tan. He was born within the first nine years of marriage. Sy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from De La Salle University.
Rise to Success
Harley Sy's career has been integral to the growth of the SM Group. He joined the board of SM Investments in his early thirties. He holds directorships in several family-owned companies, notably in the banking and financial sectors, including China Banking Corporation where he serves as a director, and BDO Private Bank, where he is an advisor. He is also the co-vice chairman of SM Retail, which includes retail chains such as Ace Hardware and Toy Kingdom.

Harley Sy's strategic roles within the SM Group have contributed to the company's expansion across retail, banking, and property development. Harley Sy actively supports the SM Foundation, a non-profit organization that aids underprivileged Filipino families. His wife led the recognition of 218 college scholars who completed their studies in school year 2023-2024.
