Early Life
Hans Peter Wild was born in Heidelberg, Germany, on June 16, 1941. His parents, Rudolf and Leonie Wild, founded Zick-Zack Werk Rudolf Wild in 1931, the company that would later become Wild Flavors. He earned a law degree and an MBA and completed a PhD from the University of Mannheim.
Rise to Success
Wild joined his parents' company in 1974. He played a key role in expanding the company's international presence, forming Wild Flavors and Capri-Sun. A significant marketing move was signing boxing champion Muhammad Ali as an advertising ambassador in 1979, which transformed the company into an international corporation. He sold the majority stake in Wild Flavors to Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) in 2014.
Key Business Strategies
Wild's strategy involved expanding the Capri-Sun brand globally and building Wild Flavors into a leading supplier of flavors and extracts. His early recognition that tastes vary by region was key to Capri-Sun's success. In 2014, Wild sold Wild Flavors to Archer Daniels Midland for approximately $3 billion, retaining ownership of Capri-Sun.
Philanthropy
Wild is known for his philanthropic efforts through the Leonie Wild Charitable Foundation, which supports citizens in need and is involved in social and cultural projects.
