Early Life
Guo Guangchang was born in Dongyang, Zhejiang, China, in February 1967. He developed a strong work ethic during his childhood in Dongyang. He earned a BA in Philosophy and an MBA from Fudan University in 1989.
Rise to Success
In 1992, Guo co-founded Guangxin Technology Development Company Ltd. This was among the first to use scientific methods in market research in mainland China. In 1994, he became the chairman of Fosun Group. Under his leadership, Fosun grew into a major conglomerate with investments in insurance, pharmaceuticals, real estate, steel, mining, retail, finance, and asset management. Fosun International was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2007.
