Early Life
Glenn Russell Dubin was born on April 13, 1957, in Washington Heights, New York City. He was raised in a Jewish middle-class family. His father worked as a taxi driver and later in dress manufacturing, and his mother was a hospital administrator. Dubin graduated from Stony Brook University in 1978 with a degree in economics, where he also played football and lacrosse.
Rise to Success
Dubin began his career as a retail stockbroker at E. F. Hutton & Co. in 1978. In 1984, he co-founded Dubin & Swieca Capital Management, which was later renamed Corbin Capital Partners. In 1992, he co-founded Highbridge Capital Management, which became a significant hedge fund. He sold a majority stake in Highbridge to J.P. Morgan Asset Management in 2004. In 2013, he founded Engineers Gate Manager LP. In January 2020, Dubin retired from the hedge fund industry to focus on private investments and philanthropy.
Key Business Strategies
Dubin is the Principal of Dubin & Co. LP, a private investment firm. He is also the lead shareholder of Castleton Commodities International (CCI), an energy merchant company. His family office invests in early and late-stage growth companies. Dubin's investment strategy includes a 'barbell strategy' with conservative and more aggressive investments.
Philanthropy
Dubin co-founded the Robin Hood Foundation in 1987, an organization dedicated to fighting poverty in New York City. He and his wife, Eva Andersson-Dubin, funded the Dubin Breast Center of the Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai. He established the Dubin Fellowship for Emerging Leaders at Harvard's Kennedy School.
