Gail Miller was born Karen Gail Saxton on October 14, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in a modest household as one of nine children during the Great Depression. Her father worked as a shoemaker, and her mother managed the household. Despite financial hardships, she developed a strong work ethic and a deep sense of community responsibility.
Rise to Success
In 1979, Gail and her husband, Larry H. Miller, purchased their first Toyota dealership in Murray, Utah. Through astute business practices, they expanded their enterprise into a large automotive group. They acquired the Utah Jazz NBA team in 1986, further solidifying their impact on Utah's cultural and economic landscape. After Larry's passing in 2009, Gail took the helm of the Larry H. Miller Company.

Gail Miller directed the company's growth and diversified its operations. This included the sale of the automotive dealerships to Asbury Automotive in 2021 for $3.2 billion.
