Early Life
Frederik Paulsen was born on October 30, 1950, in Stockholm, Sweden. His father, Frederik Paulsen Sr., founded Ferring Pharmaceuticals. Paulsen grew up in Sweden, studying chemistry at Christian Albrecht University in Kiel, Germany, and business administration at Lund University in Sweden. He later earned a doctoral degree in Demography from Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, France.
Rise to Success
Paulsen joined Ferring Pharmaceuticals in 1976 and became Managing Director of Ferring AB, Sweden, in 1983. He became the non-executive chairman of Ferring Pharmaceuticals. Under his leadership, the company expanded globally, specializing in reproductive medicine, maternal health, gastroenterology, and urology. Ferring’s revenue has grown to approximately $2.3 billion. Paulsen stepped down as chairman in 2021 and became chairman emeritus.
