Rise to Success
Before founding Nykaa, Nayar had a successful career in investment banking. She worked at A. F. Ferguson & Co. as a manager. In 1993, she joined Kotak Mahindra Group, where she rose to become the Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Capital and Director of Kotak Securities. At the age of 50, she left her high-profile job and founded Nykaa in April 2012 with $2 million of her own money. Nykaa, meaning "one in the spotlight," was launched as an e-commerce platform curating a range of beauty and wellness products.
