Early Life
Evgeny Markovich Shvidler, known as Eugene Shvidler, was born on March 23, 1964, in Ufa, Russia, to a Jewish family. His father was a Soviet geologist. In 1989, Shvidler moved to the United States and studied at Fordham University in New York, receiving an MBA in 1992. He became a US citizen in 1994.
Rise to Success
After completing his studies, Shvidler worked for Deloitte & Touche in New York. In the mid-1990s, he returned to Russia and partnered with Roman Abramovich to start the oil trading outfit Runicom S.A. In 1995, they gained control of the oil giant Sibneft. Shvidler served as senior Vice President and company president of Sibneft from 1998 until 2005.

Shvidler's career involved key partnerships and strategic investments. He is the chairman of Millhouse LLC, an asset management company. He has also invested in various sectors, including real estate, mining, and metallurgy. His business acumen led to significant wealth, including the profitable sale of Sibneft shares in 2005.
