Early Life
Evangelos Marinakis was born on July 30, 1967, in Piraeus, Greece. He is the only son of Miltiadis Marinakis, a shipowner and politician, and Irini Marinaki (née Karakatsani). He studied International Business Administration and International Relations at the American International University in London.
Rise to Success
Marinakis founded Capital Maritime & Trading Corp. in 2005, building a significant presence in the shipping industry. He expanded his investments to include ownership of Olympiacos FC in 2010 and Nottingham Forest in 2017. He also owns Alter Ego Media, a Greek media group. Marinakis has been recognized as one of the most influential people in the shipping industry by Lloyd's List since 2010.
