Edwin Soeryadjaya was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, on July 17, 1949. He is the second son of William Soeryadjaya, the founder of Astra International, one of Indonesia's largest conglomerates. Edwin joined Astra International in 1978, where he spearheaded the restructuring of the company's financial structure. He played a key role in taking the company public in 1990, which was the largest IPO in Indonesia at the time. After leaving Astra in 1993, Edwin established Saratoga Investama Sedaya in 1998.
