Sugianto founded the Mandiri Group in 1981. His career progressed as he took on the role of President Commissioner of Prima Andalan Mandiri (MCOL) since 2005. In 2021, Sugianto took Prima Andalan Mandiri public, raising $32 million. His coal services company, Mandiri Herindo Adiperkasa (Mandiri Services), also went public in 2023.
