Early Life and Education
Dmitry Alexeyev, a Russian entrepreneur, was born in Vladivostok. His early passion for computers led him to study at the Far Eastern State Technical University, earning a Master of Science in Engineering. This technical background provided a solid foundation for his future ventures. He holds an MBA from Lomonosov Moscow State University Business School.
Rise to Success
Alexeyev's entrepreneurial journey began in 1998 when he co-founded DNS Retail with Yuri Karptsov in Vladivostok. Initially, the company started as a small computer parts store. Alexeyev and Karptsov strategically expanded the business, opening a second store in 2005 after careful planning. Their approach focused on a wide product selection, competitive pricing, and an in-house manufacturing arm. DNS expanded to over 2,700 stores and became a major player in the consumer electronics market.
Key Business Strategies
DNS's growth strategy involved a focus on physical store presence, offering a wide array of products, and in-house production of components, including monitors and appliances under its own brand, Dexp. The company avoided traditional advertising, relying instead on word-of-mouth and store visibility to build its customer base. Alexeyev and his team implemented a system where computers handle price formation and inventory management, showcasing the company's use of AI.

Dmitry Alexeyev is actively involved in the development and beautification of Vladivostok. He invested approximately 1.5 billion rubles (around $16.4 million USD) in the construction of Nagorny Park. He also plans to invest about 2 billion rubles (around $21.8 million USD) for a public space and beach project in Patrokl Bay, expected to be completed by 2029.
