David Scott Blitzer was born on September 7, 1969, in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. He graduated from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in 1987 and went on to graduate magna cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1991. His education at Wharton laid the foundation for his successful career in finance and investment.
Rise to Success and Career
After graduating from Wharton, Blitzer joined the private equity firm Blackstone in 1991. He rose through the ranks and became the Chairman of Blackstone's Tactical Opportunities group. Blitzer's career took off in 2011 when he partnered with Josh Harris to purchase the Philadelphia 76ers, marking the beginning of his extensive involvement in professional sports ownership. Blitzer's portfolio includes the New Jersey Devils, several association football clubs, and minority stakes in the Cleveland Guardians baseball team and the Washington Commanders.

Blitzer's key strategies involve identifying and investing in opportunities across various asset classes and industries.
