Early Life
Yngve Conni Jonsson was born on July 15, 1960, in Kuddby, Sweden. He grew up in a small farm in Östergötland.
Rise to Success
Jonsson's career began after graduating from Linköping University in 1984 with a degree in business administration. He started in Swedbank Robur and later joined Investor AB, the Wallenberg family holding company, where he served as Executive Vice President. In 1994, Jonsson co-founded EQT Partners AB. He served as its Managing Partner until March 1, 2014, when he became the Chairman of the Board. Under his leadership, EQT grew to become one of Europe's most successful private equity groups.
Key Business Strategies
Jonsson's key business strategies involved expanding EQT geographically, particularly into Germany and Eastern Europe, and diversifying its investment scope to include growth capital, debt, and infrastructure. His leadership style is focused on overhauling a company's strategy and controls. EQT's success has been attributed to Jonsson's management style, which aligns with the Wallenberg family's long-term investment philosophy.
Philanthropy
Jonsson is involved in philanthropy through the XO Foundation, which aims to provide opportunities for others and build bridges between different worlds. In 2020, he personally invested in elder care and housing companies.
